In short
- One firm's 2026–27 form near Ottawa: single (2 cars) $475, double (4 cars) $530, triple (6 cars) $630 a season, plus HST, at a 5 cm trigger.
- One Kanata and Stittsville firm lists $495 for a single and $545 for a double.
- Single to double adds about 10–12% on both lists; on the first, the triple adds $100 more.

How companies size a driveway
Snow companies sell by size class, and each names its classes its own way:
- By parking spots. One firm’s 2026–27 form near Almonte: a single fits 2 cars, a double 4, a triple 6. “Country or larger laneway” has no price beside it.
- By length and width. An Orléans firm’s form lists single (1 to 3 cars long), single plus (about 1.5 wide), double, triple, two shared sizes and custom or oversized, and takes a driveway photo.
- Ten types. A Kanata and Stittsville firm’s menu runs single, 1.5, double, 2.5, triple, 3.5, quad, circular and two shared sizes.
A lane one and a half cars wide sits between two price rows, and the company decides which one you pay. A photo with the request shows the width.
Single, double and triple: the published season prices
Two firms print size prices for a full season:
| Size | Almonte-area form, 5 cm | Kanata and Stittsville page |
|---|---|---|
| Single | $475 + HST | $495 |
| Double | $530 + HST | $545 |
| Triple | $630 + HST | price by postal code |
Single to double adds $55 on one list and $50 on the other, roughly 10–12%. The triple jumps $100 over the double. With 13% HST, the Almonte-area prices come to $536.75, $598.90 and $711.90. At that form’s 2 cm trigger the sizes cost $830, $935 and $1,105, so the triple step grows to $170 (see trigger depth).
Size follows you into a heavy winter too. The Almonte-area form divides the contract price by its 275 cm cap to set the charge per extra centimetre: about $1.73 for a single, $1.93 for a double and $2.29 for a triple at 5 cm (our arithmetic). The Kanata and Stittsville firm caps at 300 cm and says its surcharge varies by driveway size.
Wider, circular and oversized: where the list stops
The Kanata and Stittsville firm’s quad and circular pages show a price only after you enter a postal code. The Almonte-area form sends anything larger to a separate quote; the Orléans form ends at custom or oversized.
For scale, HomeStars’ Canada-wide guide puts a standard driveway at $30–$90 a visit, a long or large one at $85–$175+ and a steep or difficult one at $115–$230, since slopes and complex layouts take more labour and equipment. A circular drive usually meets the street twice, so mention both openings.
Long country lanes and gravel
None of the lists above prices a lane longer than six cars. Give the length in metres or feet, the width, any slope, and where snow can be blown or pushed.
On gravel, the terms change. The Almonte-area form asks whether any part of the lane is unpaved and puts gravel its machines displace outside its responsibility. The Kanata and Stittsville terms leave raking stones off the lawn in spring to the homeowner. More on gravel driveways.
The City’s Snow Go Assist subsidy pays approved applicants up to 50% of each clearing, to $250 a season, or up to $450 for rural residents with an excessively high snow removal cost. The 2026/2027 deadline is Friday, November 27, 2026.
Shared lanes by size
When two attached homes share one lane and both neighbours sign, each household pays less. The Almonte-area form lists shared single, double and triple at $425, $480 and $570 plus HST, $50 to $60 under the private size. The Kanata and Stittsville page lists $370 and $420, $125 under. Storage and windrow questions are on shared driveways.
The street in front of the driveway
Two lanes of the same size can carry different prices because of the street they meet. The Kanata and Stittsville terms price main streets, bus streets and streets with a City sidewalk higher than side streets, since crews return more often to keep the driveway end open, and exclude main streets and bus routes from the $50 group discount. The Orléans form asks whether a City sidewalk runs through or at the end of your driveway.
The City says property owners are responsible for the windrow, the ridge its plow leaves at the driveway end, and its Use and Care of Roads By-law bars pushing snow onto streets, sidewalks, pathways or parks. See windrow clearing.
What to say about your driveway in the request
- Cars long and cars wide. “Three long, two wide” maps onto each chart above.
- Surface and slope. Asphalt, interlock or gravel, heaved patches, a climb from the street.
- The street. Bus route, main road, or a City sidewalk across the end.
- Snow storage. One firm’s terms use the side of the driveway or a neighbour’s arrangement when space runs out.
- Shared or private, and a daylight photo from the street.
Ontario lists snow removal among contracts over $50 that should be in writing. A written estimate in the contract caps the final price at 10% above it unless you sign a change.
Who takes your request
Ottawa Snow Desk passes your request to one independent local snow removal company. That company calls you back, looks at the driveway, sets its own price for your size of lane and does the clearing.
Questions people ask
How much more does a double driveway cost than a single?
About 10–12% more for the season on two published lists: $475 and $530 plus HST on one firm’s form near Ottawa, $495 and $545 on a Kanata and Stittsville firm’s page.
What counts as a single, double or triple driveway?
Each company draws its own line. One form sizes by parking spots: 2, 4 or 6 cars. An Orléans firm counts a single as 1 to 3 cars long and adds a ‘single plus’ about 1.5 cars wide. Give your car count in length and in width.
My driveway is long and rural. Is there a price list for it?
The Almonte-area form stops at triple. It sends ‘country or larger laneway’ to a separate quote, and a Canada-wide guide puts long or large driveways at $85–$175+ per clearing.
Do bigger driveways pay more if the winter is very snowy?
Where a contract has a season cap, yes. One firm divides the contract price by its 275 cm cap to set the charge per extra centimetre; another says its surcharge varies by driveway size.
Are the published prices with or without tax?
The Almonte-area form lists every size plus HST, which is 13% in Ontario: its $530 double comes to $598.90. Ask each company which way it quotes.
